Sandra M. Stephenson
Assistant Professor of Social Work, Social Work Field and Student Support SpecialistBio
Sandra has been at Spring Arbor University (SAU) since Spring 2019. Before coming to SAU, she has held numerous roles working with populations spanning from infants to seniors. Sandra has experience in outpatient mental health, schools, case management, as well as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). Sandra has found her calling here at SAU in the classroom and enjoys teaching our campus BSW students and our online, Zoom, and in-person BSW and MSW level courses. She is currently completing her Doctor of Education in leadership (Ed.D.), focusing on Higher Education at Trevecca Nazarene University. Sandra hopes to use her thirst for knowledge and experience to integrate and expand on what we already know about adult students and social work.
When not at SAU or studying, you can find Sandra greeting others and worshiping at Arbor Church, spending time with her family, camping, or at one of Michigan’s beautiful lakes. Sandra is married to her husband, Allen, and they have three children (Austin, Kalista, & Xandria) and one grandson (Greysyn). |
Why SAU
Sandra loves SAU not only because she graduated from SAU (twice!) and her mom worked here, but also because of the loving, praying community that pours over campus. Shortly after Sandra began her career here at SAU, her mentor, Dr. Holiday, told her “when something happens to one of us, it happens to all of us”. Implying that here at SAU, we pray for each other, love each other, and support one another.
