Emily Dixon
Associate Professor of Social WorkBio
My social work field experience involves Family Preservation work through both the Families First program and Foster Care. I worked as a case manager and as a quality assurance supervisor. From these experiences stems my passion for child welfare and the policies that drive practice. I have been at SAU full-time since 2011. I teach in the BSW and MSW programs, in the global sites, via zoom, and online. |
Why SAU
My desire for teaching was ignited when I became a trainer for new foster care workers. I loved the dialogue, critical thinking, and problem solving that accompanied this role. I started at SAU as an adjunct in the BSW program in 2010. The atmosphere at SAU was vastly different from any of my personal educational experiences. I appreciate the ability to integrate faith and learning at SAU. Since social work is a profession rooted in service, engaging in the learning process with students from a Biblical perspective, provides much more depth and meaning in the classroom. I am grateful for the opportunity to be in community with my fellow faculty, staff and our students at SAU.
