Spring Arbor University will hold a dedication ceremony for the Michindoh Conference Center on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony, which will take place in the former Weatherwood building. An invitation-only dinner will follow the dedication.
The ceremony will include a “University perspective” speech from SAU President Charles Webb and a “Michindoh perspective” speech from Michindoh President and CEO Cliff Miller. Special music will include a string ensemble directed by Bruce Brown, chair of the music department at SAU, as well as music from the family of Jeff Knoll, vice president and COO of Michindoh.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the SAU family and look forward to participating in the dedication of Spring Arbor's new campus at Michindoh Conference Center," says Knoll.
The ceremony will conclude with a dedicatory covenant speech from SAU Board of Trustees Chairman Leslie Dietzman and a dedicatory prayer from SAU chaplain, Rev. Ronald Kopicko. Betty Overton-Adkins, SAU vice president for academic affairs, will deliver the closing farewell.
The Michindoh Conference Center was gifted to Spring Arbor University in June by the Orville D. and Ruth A. Merillat Foundation. It is the largest legacy gift in SAU’s history. Located three miles outside of Hillsdale and 35 miles from SAU’s main campus, Michindoh sits on 250 acres of land with rolling hills, wetlands, streams and a private lake. Michindoh has been conducting ministry, educational and family programming for nearly 100 years.
“The Spring Arbor University Concept challenges us to take our faith, our talent, our skills, and our passion, and contribute to the success of our communities,” says Kris Rose, director of development and recruitment at Michindoh. “Michindoh is uniquely positioned to serve the greater Hillsdale area in a dynamic way, exuding the distinct nature of our fervor for Christ-like action. As Michindoh continues to do what it does best—impacting youth, congregations, and families—I look forward to showcasing the excellence of that service to our friends in the community.”
The Michindoh Conference Center is located at 4545 E. Bacon Rd., in Hillsdale. For more information regarding the dedication ceremony, contact Teresa Janson at 517.750.6348. For more information about the Michindoh Conference Center, visit www.michindoh.com or call 517.523.3616.
